Installation Tips

Preparing For Your Installation:
 

When you purchase professional installation from Manasota Flooring, Inc., you are guaranteed that all installations are top quality and within industry standards. If you have any questions call your sales consultant or our scheduling department.

What to do before our arrival? 
 
  • Remove all breakable items such as vases, lamps, knick knacks, jewelry, collectibles, antiques, treasured items and any other similar items.
  • Empty items from all bookcases, china cabinets, entertainment centers, table tops and similar items and remove items from the installation area.
 
Who moves the furniture?
 
  • Our installer will move most basic furniture from the installation area. You will need to make special arrangements for some items.
  • We can’t move antiques, grandfather clocks, aquariums, pool tables, grand or large pianos and organs.
  • Entertainment centers, wall systems and headboards that must be taken apart before moving may be handled by our installer for an additional charge. Please discuss any such items with your sales consultant before installation.
 
Electronic Equipment: 
 
  • All electronic equipment must be disconnected and moved prior to our arrival – component stereos, big screen televisions, computers and accessories, sound systems, etc.
  • Some small TV’s may be moved by our installer if disconnected. We are not responsible for moving or reconnecting these type items.
 
Additional Items:

 

  • Remove all exercise or gym type equipment from the installation area prior to our arrival.
  • Waterbeds must be drained and dismantled before our arrival.
  • Bunk beds and Canopy beds must be dismantled before our arrival
  • Remove all bed linens and coverings.
  • Remove all items on top of dressers, chests and nightstands before our arrival. Please do not put them in drawers of items being moved.
  • Closets must be emptied and items removed from the installation area before our arrival.
  • Remove all wall hangings from the installation area.
  • ** We cannot install wiring under flooring products.
 
 
Appliances:

 

  • Refrigerators, stoves, freezers, washers and dryers may be moved by our installers for a charge.
  • Chest type freezers may need special arrangements depending on size.
  • We will not disconnect or reconnect gas appliances.
  • We do not move under the cabinet dishwashers.
 
My Doors No Longer Close?

 

  • Some doors may need trimming to accommodate the thickness of your new flooring.
  • Doors that will not open and close properly will not be rehung during the installation.
  • It is your responsibility to have doors cut and rehung.
 
Moldings:
 
  • Existing moldings may have to be removed during the installation. Because they can break easily, you will be responsible for replacing them.
 
Baseboards:

 

  • Our installers are very careful and take all precautions.
  • Because of the rough backing on most carpets and tools necessary for installation, scratches and nicks in baseboards and door frames are a possibility.
  • You may need to do some touch up painting after the installation.
 
Subfloor Issues:

 

  • All floor coverings need to be installed over a structurally sound and properly installed subfloor.
  • Any issues with you sub floor, after the removal of your existing flooring, will be explained to you.
  • The additional charges to repair the subfloor will be given to you at that time.
  • Some floor issues may need to be addressed by another trade before our installation can continue.
 
Removal of Your Existing Flooring:

 

  • Your sales consultant will discuss if there are charges for removing your existing flooring at the time of sale.
 
General:

 

  • Carpet seams are not invisible. All seams will be professionally done to industry standard. The placement of seams is left to the installer’s discretion unless discussed and noted on your invoice.
  • It is standard to have excess materials left over following the installation. Industry standards require waste allowances. This material should be retained by you for warranty coverage. This material cannot be returned for credit.
  • Please discuss all installation details with our installer when he arrives. Details such as grout width, direction of wood, whether tile is straight or diagonal installation should be discussed. If there is any other areas of concern please discuss them with the installer.
  • All existing flooring will be removed from the jobsite unless installer is instructed differently by you at the time of installation. It will not be available afterwards.
  • Someone must be present at the time of installation capable of making decisions regarding any job site issues and to approve the products before installation begins.
  • Remember the removal of existing flooring and installation of the new will be noisy, leave residual odors, creates dust or other general environmental conditions requiring cleaning by you after the installation.
  • Electricity and water must be available at the job site.
  • Please do not schedule other trades or workers during your installation.
  • Please secure your pets during the installation.
  • The COD and/or balance due shall be paid the day the installation is finished. The arrangements made at the time of sale are on your invoice. Cash or check may be given to the installer. The installer will mark your copy of the invoice paid. If you have made arrangements to pay by credit card or financing, those items will be ran at the office with a receipt mailed to you. If you want to change the arrangements made at the time of sale you must contact your sales consultant prior to installation.
