Carpet

Carpet manufacturers have perfected a way to recycle millions of discarded plastic water and soft drink containers into beautiful, luxurious polyester carpets. Every year 3 billion plastic bottles are kept out of landfills. Because plastic beverage bottles are required to be made with top quality PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resins, the recycled product is superior to lower grades of synthetic fibers used making other brand of carpet yarns.

PET bottles are sorted, ground into fine chips, and then cleaned. The chips are melted and extruded into fiber and spun into carpet yarn. The yarn is then manufactured into strong, luxurious carpet. Every aspect of the process is controlled to provide the finest quality to meet the highest standards of performance.

Smartstrand with Dupont Sorona polymer is exclusive technology from Dupont where 40% of the polymer is produced from corn. Every 7 yards of SmartStrand Dupont Sorona (40 oz product) saves one gallon of gasoline. Pound for pound, Dupont Sorona requires approximately 20% less energy to produce than other nylons and results in 60% less greenhouse gases. The energy saved in making 100 million pounds of Sorona Bio-PDO equates to saving 10 million gallons of gasoline.

Anso nylon products are Type 6 nylon, which is the only post-consumer fiber capable of being recycled back into carpet fiber over and over again. The post-consumer fiber is sent to the Evergreen Nylon Recycling Plant. Patented technology is used to take post-consumer carpet and break it down to its original materials – clean nylon pellets that are the building block for Type 6 nylon. These pellets are turned back into carpet fiber – again and again – without any performance degradation of color limitations. The collection system of post-consumer carpets is expected to collect as much as 300 million pounds of carpet annually.

Reclaimed wood is taken from previously cut sources so no new trees are cut to make a product. Some of the sources are previously used flooring, old building timbers & logs dredged from rivers, etc.

Bamboo

Bamboo flooring panels and veneer are environmentally friendly and offer a unique beautiful design element.
Bamboo is a grass. It regenerates faster than wood. It is typically harvested within 4 to 8 years making it a renewable resource.
Harvesting Bamboo, unlike trees, serves to stimulate the growth of a very extensive underground root system that develops fast growing spouts.
Bamboo hardness varies. There are significant difference in hardness and structure caused by environmental conditions. Where it grows, when it is harvested, the age of the Bamboo and the amount of rain all affect the quality and hardness of Bamboo. The steaming process known as “carbonization” that produces the coffee colored Bamboo will reduce the strength of the natural colored bamboo by approximately 22%.

Cork

Cork is the bark of an oak tree known botanically as Quercus Suber. Cork trees are stripped of their bark every 9 to 14 years, the tree is never cut, the habitat remains undisturbed and the bark regenerates itself after repeated harvests. The properties of cork are derived naturally from the structure and composition of the inner cells. Each cubic centimeter of cork’s honeycomb structure contains 30 to 40 million cells. These cells allow cork to provide:

Insulation – The density of cork is extremely low giving wonderful insulation properties thermal as well as acoustical. It reduces the impact noise.
Resiliency – When cork is subjected to pressure, each cell is compressed and volume is reduced. When released from pressure, cork rapidly recovers to its original shape. It is kind to back and legs.
Impermeability – The presence of Suberin, an inherent waxy substance, renders cork impervious to both liquids and gases. As a result it does not rot.
Hypoallergenic – Cork does not absorb dust and consequently does not contribute to allegories.
Durability – Cork is remarkably resistant to wear. Its cellular composition means it is less affected by impact and friction than other hard surface flooring.
Fire Retardant – Cork is a natural fire retardant and does not spread flames or release toxic gases during combustion.
Beautiful – Cork floorings come in numerous patterns and colors. It offers an extraordinary unique look with a social consciousness.
Environmentally Friendly - A renewable resource.
Easy To Maintain – Most cork floors are protected with an acrylic finish. Sweeping and damp mopping are required for regular maintenance. When the floor shows signs of wear, a new coat of polyurethane will rejuvenate the floor. A well maintained cork floor can last for decades.
